Speech-Language Services

Our Speech and Language Pathologist covers the West Coast region only. For Port Alberni clients, please refer to Island Health's Preschool Speech Services.

Our speech-language services support children who may need help with talking, understanding language, or communicating with others. We work closely with families to support each child’s unique communication needs and build strong early language skills.

What our speech-language pathologists do

• Check in on how your child is developing communication skills
• Work with you to set meaningful goals based on your child’s abilities and your concerns
• Share helpful strategies and activities to support your child’s communication at home

You can reach out directly if you’re wondering about your child’s speech or language development. We support children with a wide range of needs, including:

• Difficulty understanding words or following instructions
• Trouble saying sounds or words clearly
• Delays in using words to express needs or ideas
• Challenges with social interaction
• Hearing loss
• Cleft lip or palate
• Stuttering or getting stuck on words
• Developmental delays or autism
• Voice differences (pitch, volume, or quality)
• Weak oral muscles or concerns with swallowing
